BB,
Regarding Canon 325 seems you use the same type of cartridge as I do.
Compatible cartridge cost RM 135:-

Thanks. I tried a compatible cartridge and it didn't fit my printer In fact, I wrecked the cartridge hehe.

Techserve have at least refunded the money for the cheapy compatible one (RM 85) and I've now bought a pukka Canon cartridge from them at vast expense (RM 250)

When I've got more time and not up to eyeballs in Legal/MM2H/Car/House conundrums, I will think this through a bit more for the future. Yeh, it seems that so often the cartridges cost more than the printer. Something to think about.

Thanks all.

This problem has been around Asia for along time, the manufacturers screw you on the replacement cartridges, its cheaper to buy another printer, than try keep on buying very expensive re-fills or new cartridges, that's why I went for a cheap HP 2060, it does scans, photo copying, printing, cost 249.myr couple years ago in GT. (I dumped the other one)

I've just picked up a replacement genuine HP colour cartridge cost 31.myr

This is a bit of a weird thing, isn't it.

Anyway, I am now alerted to the problem (which was previously "not my department"). Thing is....I don't print very much these days. So this cartridge may see me out

Don't they have stores in Penang malls where you can have the cartridge re-filled. Very common here in Indonesia and back in Vancouver.
In fact...they sell re-fill kits in Costco in N. America...I would have thought they were available in places like Tesco...no?
That can be very messy...but that's maybe because my hands shake so much...
