Default How furnished is a furnished apartment?

So I have a verbal offer of job in KL with contract due in next couple of days. However I am booked to leave Brisbane on 1st Feb and house is being emptied into container on 30th Jan.

I have two options

1. current employer is paying, so no problem to send the lot back to Glasgow and put in storage.
2. change destination and send to KL

HR director of new employer had advised they will pay for accommodation and she recommended getting a furnished apartment. According to her there is no point in us sending the contents of a full 4 bedroom house to KL, just some boxes with clothing, bedding and toys etc.

Question is, how furnished is a furnished apartment (on average)?

How easy is it to rent furniture and electronics if needed? (links would be good)

Thanks

I think it will depend on the landlord. My last rental included sofa, coffee table, dining table and chairs, TV unit, one furnished bedroom (wardrobe, dressing table, bed and bedside table), a wardrobe in a spare room, and a fridge. The sofa (one of those ubiquitous L shaped corner things) was poor quality and the rest was really basic chip board stuff.

Hopefully air con and fans should also be included.

Renting furniture I've never tried and never heard of anyone doing it, or electronics. Prices are not too bad here though even if you have to partially provide yourself.

Hi Bingo. As Atilla says, it all depends on the landlord.

There was another thread recently, not sure if it was on this site or another, but it was "suggested" that it's difficult to find a completely empty condo unit here. I think landlords will tend to add a few bits of basic furniture and then can command a higher rental price

How long is the job contract for? Can you live without your household stuff, or do you have stuff you would really miss if away for 1 or 2 years?

We have quite a few KL residents on this forum so I imagine they will put their two sens worth on here soon.

I know a few people here who rented furniture and spent roughly 1200rm a month for a 3 bedroom place. I dont think this included electronics.
