Probably unknown to many of you, but a hugely popular singer in France.
France Gall, died today in Paris aged 70 after a long illness.

Her big claim to fame was winning the Eurovision contest for France in the mid 60's - when I recall first falling for this chic young lass.
The song, Poupee de cire, poupee de son, was written by Serge Gainsbourg, which true to form for him was met with some controversy.
F. Gall recorded many very successful hit songs, many written by her French singer-songwriter husband Michel Berger. She also released a great many record albums.
It's no longer a secret that the Gainsbourg song Les Sucettes (Lollipops) which he wrote for her at a very naive 21, contained many extremely sexual connotations, which she later admitted being totally horrified when he explained what the double entendre lyrics really signified.

Here are a few of her immensley popular hits:-
Ma Declaration (My Declaration)

This was a trubute to Ella Fitzgerald:-

Cézanne peint (Cézanne Painted)

Il jouait du piano debout (He played the piano standing)

The word “huge” shouldn’t be in quotation marks, but the word “comedy” should be.

When those two are mentioned, I think immediately of this classic clip. Simply brilliant!
Imho anyone who doesn't raise at least a smile at this is a very sad person......

A real hero for me - fantastic presence on the pitch. Really used to look forward to a glimpse of him on Match of the Day.

59? Jeez - I'm beginning to think I'm living on borrowed time.
