Polish I think.

Soccer is a British English word, I have to keep telling the tanks that soccer is a British word that they culturally appropriated.

Where does it say that they are Irish? I'm in the USA, but I'm English.

Good luck with that then. The part of Planet America that I reside in, has Handegg mentality.

Quite a substantial amount of Irish people post on these boards. Because there process for visas is quite similar to the British.

But yes it was a feux pas to say this person was Irish. I frequent a few message boards and the place where people are located is normally the country they are from. Of course this board is very different.

Still, many Irish do call it soccer unfortunately. I personally don't like the term but is used in many English speaking countries.

Strangely, I've only started correcting people who call the game "soccer", since I moved to the USA.

When I were a lad (that's your cue, Marv), "soccer" and "football" were interchangeable.

Take a look at this site ...

For me too, then the tanks took an interest, took the word hostage, and the anti-American in all of us had a hissy fit. I enjoy telling the tanks to go and get their own word, and give us ours back, as they are under the misunderstanding that it is of their coinage.
