Default A Black Footballers Union?

Doesn't it defeat the object of stopping discrimination based on race a bit?

Yes, yes it does. As does a few of the other things people are coming up with. Positive discrimination is still discrimination, it even has it in it's name.

Doesn't anyone else find all this a little hypocritical?

Start a Society of White Lawyers (or anything with the word white in it, and see how quickly one's branded racist. I wonder if the Black Lawyer's Society complies with anti-discrimination legislation?

If everyone had a level playing field then it would be extremely hypocritical.

But the simple fact is they don't. Women, and non-white males in general, are under-represented/underpaid etc. in many walks of life. Up until that is not the case, then there is a place for these. Some of these things will take a long time to change.

They are not doing it to discriminate against non-black players. They are doing it to try to make sure black players are treated in the same way as anyone else.

If white people were being actively discriminated against based on the colour of their skin then there would be a need for a Society of White Lawyers.

Having typed all that, I do believe that some of the actions of some of the individual people within those organizations are misguided at best and could also be described as racist. I also think those are the minority, but also generally those that get reported as they are easy to describe as hypocritical etc.
