Default Unfortunately, iPlayer has stopped working

My iplayer app has suddenly stopped working. Every time I try to launch it, it starts launching then stops and gives me that message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times, cleared the cache, cleared its data, restarted the tablet, all to no avail.

It's on a somewhat ancient (3.5 years-ish) Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet. It was working fine yesterday, today - nada.

Help please.

What does the message actually say? Just that it has "stopped working"?
I have it on my Galaxy 10.1tab tablet(5 years old!) and using HOXX proxy VPN it works fine. Just tried it and it's still OK.works fine on this PC as well , again using HOXX. A bit more detail please as you seem to have done all the correct things!

To be precise, it says "Unfortunately, BBC iplayer has stopped" in a little dark grey popup box, and under that line in the box it has two options, "report" and "ok".

That's all there is

It was fine yesterday and I've done nothing.

It worked fine through Tunnelbear for downloading, and then I could watch offline anywhere. Now it gets as far as starting to load then stops and gives me that popup.

It looks like a new version of the BBC iPlayer was made available yesterday and is no longer compatible with my Galaxy NotePro 12.2 so this may be your problem too.

You could install Kodi and the iPlayer WWW addon onto your Galaxy 10.1 as this is still working on my tablet.

Gah. I don't know what kodi is but I'll look. Thanks.

Quiltman's iplayer still seems to be working on his old tablet. Maybe it just didn't update yet. Mine's the Tab 3.

Edit: According to what I can see about the new release, my tablet should be able to run it. I think. I'm at a loss.

It's just not working. Quite a few reviews on the Google app store about multiple crashes, inability to launch, and downloads not working starting yesterday.

They're rolling out a password requirement so it's probably new code

Working fine on my PC via HOXX. Will try again on tablet later.

I registered some time ago also.

Although the app just isn't launching, they aren't asking me for my password. I suppose it's not working while they put in whatever security to keep people out they want to keep out. That would likely include me.

I assume when you register it records the IP address you're signing in with?

No idea. Assorted articles online say that the BBC will not be trying to hunt down IP addresses.

Although I created a sign-in, I've not yet been asked to use it. As things stand, I can't even start the app so I'm not going to get asked to sign in either.

I guess it could, but that isn't going to help them with anything. I/Ps are (a) not static and (b) easily spoofed and (c) and (d) and...

Not sure. Mine is working right now, but articles are being run today that report the beeb going after VPN users specifically (again). Coincidence? Maybe.
