TARES
I've just been reading this
http://www.dirittierisposte.it/Guide...09456_art.aspx
where it looks to me as if the default plan (i.e. unless a comune decides otherwise) is that there'll be four slices of TARES to pay this year, in January, April, July and October. Is that right?

Re: TARES
Technically TARES no longer exists, and the answer any way is nobody knows. Yet.
From Jan 1 2014 we have the IUC the Imposta Unificata Comunale which is an umbrella tax covering the IMU, the TARI (ex Tares) and the TASI which is a nice new shiny tax to cover indivisible comunal services and which will be applicable to prima casa unless the comune alone decides to exempt them.
So we have one tax to cover 3 taxes, and which have all been payable at different times. More over we have one payment to cover 2 imposte and 1 tax, so two bills and one self calculation? SO how much, when, how and even if are all to be decided and probably we will know in about April when they give us 30 minutes to get down the Post Office before the scadenza.

Re: TARES
So, IMU was due to be paid this month, do I now calculate and pay it, or wait until it is all sorted out?

Re: TARES
For the new rubbish tax etc, the comune has told us we will have 4 instalments, but the first will be late - posiibly end of Feb - and will only be an estimate.

Not all comunes have to pay the extra 1%, but if your's does, its due by 24th Jan. We had to self-calculate, but you can get help at the comune.

Thanks Clint, should have known you would know the answer. That helps the cash flow a bit anyway.

I think we are all in the same boat not knowing what/when/how we have to pay. I am still waiting for our comune to recalculate the tax due end Nov as they charged me for a garage I haven't got I have no any idea when I am going to get a new bill, probably when there is lots of other stuff to pay

Re: TARES
IMU was due in December, some people had a bit more to pay in January. Some people have additional TARES to pay this month, but you must receive a bill.
Then apart from intrastat, INPS; Conail, IVA, we dont have to pay any more tax until..... February.

Re: TARES
Today (as residents in a Prima casa) we have paid a teeny amount for IMU and also the 2 rubbish taxes-1 payment to the state and 1 to the comune.
Do I now have to expect further rubbish tax bills in February?
It's all so crazy!

Re: TARES
When IMU was first introduced the 'standard' or 'recommended' rate was 0.4% for prima casa. Individual comunes, however, could charge anything between 0.2% to 0.6% depending on their circumstances. Many went higher than 0.4%, surprise, surprise but only the 0.4% rate for prima casa was abolished. So, if your comune went for say 0.5% for prima casa, the difference between 0.5% and 0.4% ie 0.1% is still payable. I think that's right anyway.
The new tax is called IUC. See modicasa's first post re payments.
