Re: Royal wedding
If you have set top box the wedding is live without interruption and with a no doubt cringeworthy voice over on 'E' channel all day..... where's David Dimbleby when you need him? though I expect even the Beeb has ditched the Nicholas Witchells of the wolrd in favour of the yoof vote, so instead of the reverent tones of 'And now... the royal carriage turns into the Mall... ' we'll have ''Ere she comes, don't she look a stunner'

Re: Royal wedding
So for those of you watching the wedding , did you have any homely party to celebrate, today ?
I enjoyed it, Kate's dress really reminded Grace Kelly's wedding gown, beautiful but something that I expected, more interesting was looking at the guests.
I found her mum the most sophisticated and well dressed woman on "stage", and Pippa's dress ,as well, just perfect, I loved it.
Simply obscene the 2 Princesses Eugene and Beatrice, poor girls, no idea who adviced on their dresses, but obviously was a big fail..Found comments on Twitter saying they looked like Cinderella step-sisters, no wonder why..
The rest was ups and downs, never understand when people want to exaggerate, they turn themselves into big wrapped Easter eggs.
I noticed someone that looked like Al-Fayed, was he really him? was he invited?

OH the OH had her Italian friends round this evening and did the works, an English "tea" scones the lot all home made, she got the flags out the complete works and she even texted them to NOT come in jeans but to wear a dress!!! and yes they did...It was like a little English tea party...

I also noticed someone who looked like Al Fayad! Wasn't sure though...
Didn't have a party as I had to work, but I did wear a dress (red, white and blue!) and I did watch the wedding on the BBC website. I have to say I've never felt so proud to be British - it was a lovely occassion regardless of whether you like the monarchy or not, and the fact that milllions of people from all over the world tuned in to watch just goes to show how highly other people regard them, which makes them a true asset to our country.
Did feel sorry for the Princesses though - Lady Gaga and Smurfette - epic fail as my students like to say!

I thought it was Al Fayed too, but it it turned out to be his Doppleganger (or lookeelikeee) - Prince of Congo or or somewhere like that. Besides, Al Fayed and the Royals don't like each other - so can't imagine he got an invite or would want to turn up.

Did she make them watch the wedding too? (Or was it only on the news?).

Re: Royal wedding
Ciao tutti, I enjoyed the wedding too. For me it was only spoiled by the inane and senseless running commentary provided by two ignorant Euronews speakers. Had it on Euronews so that my wife could enjoy a commentary in Italian; and I can't stand Antonio Caprarico on RAI 1 either.
ciao for now,
'o nonno

Re: Royal wedding
I was at school yesterday morning and began all my classes by saying,
"There are TWO reason why I don't want to be here today! 1 my sister arrived yesterday from England and I'd rather be with her and 2, I could be at home watching the Royal Wedding."
I wasn't particularly interested in watching the wedding from start to finish but my comments did prick up the ears of the "English deaf" class I was in.
I got home in time to see the exit from the Abbey and then the kiss on the balcony and then my sister and I turned off the Tv and went out for the afternoon.
I did think Kate looked like a very happy bride and even William looked liked he was trying to tone down a few massive happy grins in order to appear more 'royal'.

Re: Royal wedding
Isn't modern celebrity culture an intriguing, logically baffling thing, though. Just a short time ago Kate M would have been ignored walking down any High Street in the land. Now she's feted almost to the point of worship. Yet she hasn't changed at all. She hasn't actually "done" anything except become a celebrity. It just shows what power the mass media have to influence people's minds.

Re: Royal wedding
Yes, she has changed, she was William's girfriend before while one day in the future she will be the future queen.
I am not a royalist, having grown up in a socialist country, but I would rather have her as a celebrity than the likes of Cheril Cole, Jordan or Victoria Beckham with her sour face and other similar talentless women who are selling magazines.
