Re: Request help to obtain a document
Piatti was the top Italian cellist in the 19th century. Lived many years in Bergamo, where the Bioblioteca is. So perhaps they all knew each other there

Thanks for this. Interesting, I didn't know about Piatti being a cellist. But the dates definitely make sense so I have little doubt that they were aquaintances, and obviously shared a common Italian language. Nothing on Wiki though about Patti's wife, but I'm still looking for more clues.

Re: Request help to obtain a document
For those who may be interested, Lorna did a wonderful job in obtaining this document for me!
The complete piano concerto score written and performed by my Sicilian great-grandfather ran to 28 pages, the interest and musicality of which certainly exceeded my expectations.
The dedication on the front page of the manuscript is clearly marked for Madame Piatti - in all probability the wife of Carlo Alfredo Piatti. He was indeed the top Italian cellist in the 19th century, and even today recognized as one of the worlds greatest. He and my great-grandfather must have been close friends - both speaking fluent Italian, and from what I've found from newspaper archives of the period, played in concert together frequently in London & on-tour.
Somewhat sad that such an interesting concerto should had been shelved, and in oblivion for over 150 years, but now thanks to Lorna this is no longer the case.
My next efforts are to contact two pianists (one in UK) who regularly give concerts, and discuss the possibility of giving this work a new lease of life.
Really amazing what B-E inter-forum co-operation can achieve.
