Default Albanian 6.5 earthquake felt in Puglia

Albania was hit by a very strong earthquake today that was felt in Puglia.. The last time Albania was hit so hard in 1979 it was followed a few months later by strong quakes in central southern Italy (Norcia and Naples).
I am thinking of making a few simple home preparations just in case we get hit again. I expect a few smaller quakes would give some warning of any strong quake.

We always keep stuff prepared, as do many others we know, it does no harm. After feeling 3-4 reasonable quakes it is something you think about now and then, but for us it is not a major worry.

Terrifying prospect - fingers crossed for all who may be affected.

Dreadful. I loathe quakes.

Yes. The mantra here in New Zealand is to have at least 3 days worth of supplies + the usual sleeping bags , camp stove , torches, radio , water etc.

There will not necessarily be any sort of smaller rumbles before a strong quake. It could well be a strong quake first without warning , followed by small/large quakes or aftershocks.

I have been looking at the strongest earthquakes in Italy and Albania.

Albania had shocks above 6 in 1905, 1911, 1920, 1930, 1942, 1959, 1979 and 2019.

Italy had shocks above 6 in 1905, 1915, 1920, 1930, 1962, 1976, 1980, 1997, 2002, 2009,2012 and 2016.

A strong shock in Albania often matches within a shortish period with a shock in Italy. Even in 1943 there was a 5.5 in the Marche.
