Hi,us and our 3 neighbours rear garden fences have gone rotten after 10 years.Because we are here most of the time,we've been given the task of shopping around for the work.One guy gave us a price,the second guy said we also have to get authorisation from the commune.Is this correct,just for renewing 4 existing 1 metre high fences or is this guy just being overcautious,cheers,Brian.

I think you only need permission if you are changing something like the height, materials etc. Was the fence legally constructed in the first place? Locals often dont bother much with rules.

Hi,yes they are kosher,3 pairs of semis built 10 years ago.We have the deeds and plans and fences are shown.We might increase height by a few inches,cheers,Brian.

Good that you got a definitive answer.
My partners father employed a painter to do the outside of his house. The painter accidentally painted a shared drain pipe without permission and the neighbour was furious. He had to get the painter back to restore the original color.

Your limit is 2 metres high, or less if there's a comunal bylaw.
