Hi I've moved to Italy from the UK about a year ago , my question is am hoping to travel to the USA later this year i currently have a European union italian passport do i need to upgrade my current italian passport to enter the USA or will my current passport be suffice, I've been trying to get intouch with with the italian consulate in London for advise for weeks now but their are a totally waste of time , ignore my emails and fone calls , if any of you guys can help it be very much appreciated thanks

Without knowing what kind of passport you have no-one is going to be able to help you. Lorna at Vicenza has given you the right link so you can check for yourself.

Ok thanks for your reply i have a unione europea repubblica italiana passport, which i don't think it qualifies to travel to the USA but i will check the link thankyou much appreciated

That doesn't mean a lot other than it's an Italian passport. Presumably it's in date but is it a biometric passport? It'll need to be biometric in order for you visit the US using the Visa Waiver Program.

Does it have the biometric symbol at the bottom of the front cover like this one?

Yes it does, so if the passport is adequate what other documentation will i need , sorry for sound a clueless but I've travelled outside Europe , thankyou for your guidance

If you are planning on just visiting the US then you should apply for an ESTA in order to use the Visa Waiver Program.

You'll need a valid passport, ESTA confirmation, return ticket, and a good travel insurance policy with MEDICAL cover.
