Over here
Hi everyone. Thought I'd just say hello from over the other side. It was quite a stress to say the least moving back, but we're settled in now. Even the lemon tree made it over. All is fab. Weather is nice and cool - I hear they're baking in ol' Napoli.
Tesco just delivered my shopping, including a nice bottle of Shiraz which is this evening's tipple.
Hope everyone is well. xxx

Ciao .Ariel.!! It's certainly baking here! 32 already and only May!!! Probably means it will pee down in July when the kids are off!!
Already getting Tesco's to deliver! You have settled back in! Don't overdose on all the choccies you couldn't get here, you might regret going back, although it's a good excuse for a shopping trip!

Re: Over here
Thanks you two!
Patty, i'm in Surrey.
I was thinknig of coming back to Nap for a holiday and stock up on food , but tbh I don't think I could bare the heat. I might hang on until after September when it gets a little cooler.
Tesco delivery is great because my car is still in Naples so it's a piede or public transport for me - which I don't really mind as it does work the chocolate off ! Think dear car will be staying in Naples.

Poor car! Is this both? I was really attached to my Hyundai - friends would give me reports on how it was doing after I left!

Ah the joys of internet shopping. One of my italian friends said the other day 'it would be good if you could get the supermarket to deliver your shopping to your house wouldn't it?' so I told her about internet supermarket shopping and she is dead envious..... she cannot for the life of her understand why I would be here when I could be back in the UK getting Sainsburys to deliver every week.... I wonder if she will go and plant the seed in the Ipercoop managers head??!!

It's my Matiz which is still in Nap. Anyone interested......It's a gem.
It is fab the internet shopping. Why anyone would struggle with the heavy stuff I don't know. It is nice to browse in the real supermarket, I agree, but there's no need to battle with the heavy stuff.

In fact with Esselunga you get the best of both worlds. You can either shop on-line and they deliver the next day or later if you do it at a weekend or, the way I prefer, you go in the shop, book delivery for that day and then select everything yourself! That way I get exactly what I want without the hassle of having to cart it home!

Re: Over here
ohhh don't think there is an Esselunga near here!! but they sound good. We have Ipercoop or Bennett nearest to us. Then there is a horrible Carrefour that I use for the washing liquid I buy and an Auchan a bit further away. None do home delivery as far as I know!! Ipercoop is my sm of choice, cheaper and nicer staff. There is always a problem with something that won't scan at the till in Bennett and they expect you to leave it, or make you pay for everything else and then stand aside and wait til someone can get the right code or whatever for them, then they will not accept your credit card again!! Carrefour open about 2 tills even on a busy saturday. auchan is not bad but the staff can be miserable as hell!! ..... Are you feeling better now Ariel going to Tescos and having people be nice to you and not having to queue for 45minutes just to pay for your shopping??

Re: Over here
Indiebird, people have been always nice to me so far in shops. I know there can be not so nice peopel everywhere, but so far so good.
Just bought a microwave from Tesco online. I left my old one behind and I miss it for defrosting and heating stuff up quickly.
Has anyone seen self service check outs in italy? There were definitely none in Naples, but maybe further up north? They're in most supermarkets here.

Yes, there are a few in Florence. Coop and Esselunga. I used the Waitrose self-service in the UK. It is a brill idea.
