Need info on gaining Italian residency!
 

Hello. I am looking to move to Italy. I have a British passport, but live in Canada. My wife of 11 years would of course be coming with me, but she is Canadian. I understand I can apply for residency sometime before the first 90 days there are up, but what is required for my wife to also gain residence? Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance.

There's quite a few threads on this here so I suggest an hour or so surfing will pay dividends.

I can't comment on the issues around Canadians, or other non-EU citizens moving here, but there are plenty around so I guess its possible.

Apart from the specifics you will find in the other threads, I would suggest:
- the ability to relax and be patient is essential;
- you may find the requirements in your area different from other peoples experiences;
- you will get nowhere fast by trying to make the actual rules fit your local system;
- get the process going, whatever that might be, and try and enjoy the ride.
- it's extremely unlikely you'll be deported if the 90 days are up and you haven't completed the process.
