Default Man-Bags....Practical or Gay ?

Ok Ok....now when i first moved to continental europe man bags where just coming into fashion, i was of the opinion they where definitley for gay men. an Effeminate statement !

However ....since i have been here in Italy i have actually aquired uno ! totally changed my mind, practicallity at its best, i always wear T shirts so only have pant pockets, cant fit Mosquito repellent , camera, car keys, apartment keys, cigarettes, lighter, wallet, change and sunglasses in just two pockets !

opinions please ? Still gay or definitley practical .....

Men have always had bags of one kind or another, including brief case, back-pack and tool box.
If its a man bag then you are the victim of fashion.

What about partners?

Mine does not have a man bag - but he still has an 80s bum bag. He keeps his wallet and maybe his keys and if he has anything extra he just sticks it in my handbag.

One night he left everything in my bag and decided to bugger off home early. He had his car keys but not the house ones

I have a man bag. It is great for carrying an extra 1 kilo when I travel with CryingAir. It fits snug under my jacket and I fill it with my camera keys money etc.

I use it when I am on holiday in Sicily, but I have never used it in the UK. It gets left in the hotel.

For most English blokes its not the man bag that makes them look a tw?t but the baggy ill fitting shorts, terrible tshirts and naff sandals - so worrying about looking a bit gay shouldn't worry you. ITs the fact you look like a walking sleeping bag that should stop you leaving the house.

I've got a man bag, it's big enough for a wallet, phone, keys, extra strong condoms, KY jelly and mp3 stick with my Enya songs.

Oh I couldn't go anywhere without those either ....

the Enya songs I mean.

Manbags are an absoloute must for the summer.
I just bought a new man-bag from a China-shop - I had a standard issue Eastpak one last year but I've lost it.

The marsupio is however an absoloute no-no ..

Yeah I agree, you would look like a prat with a bumbag or marsupio. I have a friend who dresses quite smartly but then he wears one of those around his waist, it looks ridiculous! If you're not sure about a manbag, then get something bigger like a messenger bag. Like Modicasa posted, it's not so much the manbag but everything else that goes with it, that would make you stand out as an Elton John or as a Tom Cruise. Oh hang on...
