Default Italian citizenship via residence

It seems the biggest hurdle for me to obtaining Italian citizenship via residence is likely to be the Criminal record certificate(s).
Does anyone know if there is a cut off period from when one should obtain these? 4 decades ago, in my yuf, I worked for a year in Saudi. The chances of obtaining a criminal record certificate from Saudi must be close on zero!

I can't see why you feel the need to tell them. The Italian expression darsi la zappa sul piede comes to mind. The UK certificate only goes back through the most recent 10years of addresses.

I'd also like to know the cut -off , I've been here 25 years and finding the list of addresses a big enough challenge as it is .

The Prefettura have been very helpful with my application. They made a few recommendations to assist the process and I have had several meetings always with the same person to make sure the application is correct. I think they would answer any queries you have. If the application is OK the queue is 2years at the moment.
The Prefettura told me not to upload the British Passport but use an Italian Id card. The other thing was that they do not consider income from the UK but want evidence of earnings from Italy. I am not sure that would apply to pensioners though.

There is no cut off date. It must be a pain.

Despite the 2 year time frame, a couple of friends recently gained citizenship. One took almost 3 years, her sister 4 years and only after she hired a lawyer. There wasn't a problem, just a queue. They were non-Eu.

OK I think I see a way through the Criminal record certificate problem.

The next question is what form to fill out; in the Min. dell’interno website https://nullaostalavoro.dlci.interno.../gd?link=CITTM
It looks like it should be
  • Modello B - Cittadini Stranieri residenti in Italia - Art.9 (lett. a, b, d, e, f) e/o Art.16 - Richiesta per Residenza
Even if it says “Richiesta per Residenza” when you open it on page 1 it says

Al Presidente della Repubblica per il tramite
del Prefetto territorialmente competente, il sottoscritto

CHIEDE

Does anyone know what the significance of the pages highlighted in green are?

The pages highlighted in green are those where you have answered all the questions.

ETA: And, yes, you should be using Modello B

I am currently in the process of applying for Italian citizenship by residence for my wife and me. I am filling out the application form - Modello B - Cittadini Stranieri residenti in Italia - Art.9 (lett. a, b, d, e, f) e/o Art.16 - Richiesta per Residenza on the Ministero dell’interno website.
A couple of questions:

1). On page 8 and 13 of Modello B it refers to Dati del Coniuge \ Parte Unita Civilmente and asks if you are also applying for their citizenship, similarly on page 13. Is this sufficient to get my wife’s citizenship or do I have to submit a separate application on a second Modello B but cross reference them?

2). On page 22 it asks for certain documents to be uploaded, for example a certificato penale, a certificato penale consists of 4 pages, the original certificate, the apostille (glued on the back), translation of the original certificate and translation of the apostille. Which one should I upload?

1. I would have thought that each coniuge will have to aply for thehir own citizenship, since one does not give the other the right merely by residence.
2. Upload all - orignals, apostille, and translation thereof.
