Investments & Banking For Children
Hi All,
Just looking at setting up a saving scheme for our little ones.
As our six year old was born in Uk he qualified for the UK child trust fund, but would mind looking at something similar here in Italy.
Our almost 2 YO was born in Italy and at the moment doesn't have anything in place. - Ideally, if we can find one, a reasonable interest investment where we can set up a DD for oment contributions.
Any thought on where we'd have secure investments?
Would we be better exploring a UK junior ISA?

'Did you hear the one about a saving scheme for children in Italy.....? You'll make Italians cry laughing or look at you in total incomprehension..
Id stick to a junior ISA - such things do not exist here. The nearest thing to what you are looking for is called a nonno.

The Italian Post Office had a savings account for kids. Not sure how much interest it paid and I think the money was stuck there until their 18th birthday.
Interest paid to you here is a joke anyway. You could leave €10 in an account for 12 months and at the end of the year, you'd be the one owing the bank money!

Problem is though that to have a junior ISA or other scheme is that you'd need to be a UK resident.
Seems that a savings account does not require the child to be a resident but the parent is required to be UK resident.
And, in this instance, neither the child or the parents are UK residents.
