Question Health insurance

We're moving to Umbria in 3 weeks fingers crossed, after selling the house unexpectedly. We know we need health insurance to apply for residency and have pre-existing conditions - but we're both fit. Have been looking at some companies - being British I begrudge giving money to health insurance companies. I wondered if anyone knew of any reasonably priced cover or does anyone know if we are able to pay in to the SSN in Umbria which would be our preference. I would much rather our money went straight to the health service rather than an intermediary.
Many thanks 😊🤔
