Getting married in Italy

I'm finally taking the plunge and am looking for some advice for getting married in Italy. I'm a UK resident and my fiancee is Italian and an Italian resident. I contacted the British Embassy in Rome and they sent me a list of links that made everything even more complex :o
Have any non residents here married Italian residents? Could you guide me on the right path?
Thanks
John

Yeah - don't do it! Seriously, Congratulations. I would guess it will be easier than our daughters marriage here whereby both were from the UK. However a lot will likely be similar and no doubt involve a great deal of paper work. Get you full birth certificate now....

You will need a nulla osta from your registry office which must be legalised at Milton Keynes along with a legalised copy of your birth cerificate. They can be translated and sworn at your local tribunal in Italy. Its easier as your wife to be is Italian.
