is it your potenza attuale or your potenza ipotetica that says 3.7? The new meters will have two readings - one for how much is actually available, and one for how much is theoretically available according to your contract. Reducing the power to an actual couple of kilowatts is what ENEL do if you dont pay your bill, they are not allowed to just cut you off.

They're not supposed to "just cut you off" without prior warning but they very much can leave you with no electricity at all. Same for gas, telephone and everything else.

New development: just had a stack of forms from Enel in Stephens name to take over the electricity contract. Thing is the house lease we just signed said everything was staying in the landlady's name, so we are confused to say the least. Stephen has just e-mailed her solicitor to find out what is going on. In some ways I know this will be better but in others, like getting the kw upped again, it is a pain in the jacksey! I will let you know what happens....

Landlady has decided both the water and electric should be in our names. I don't have a problem with that and don't see that I should, do you?? Also the kilowatt reduction was a mistake and that is being rectified in the next 48 hours - I'm going to be keeping a check on it believe me....It feels like she is treating it more like a 4x4 even though we don't have the same rights....I am guessing the change over is to do with her either paying for power elsewhere or taxes...I never understood why it was staying in her name when the bills came straight to us anyway.

spoooooky I was just wondering if your leccy was sorted yet TR.... are you resident there? that obviously makes a difference to how much you pay but apart from that we've always had the bills in our names here and we prefer it. The only one that still goes to the landlord (and we've got no idea why -but it just does!) is the water and he usually rolls up at the house in the first weeks of Jan with the bill for the year and dh pays him cash and off he goes again.... not had a problem so far.... *frantically touches wood*

My electricity went off this morning just before 9.30 with no warning or no signs up outside anywhere to say it would be off.

It's only just come back on now.
What a pain it is. Why does the electricity go off here so often?

Okay. So I wonder why I am stressed so much this month....blocked sewers, missing passports and reduced electricity....

I got a phone call from ENEL this morning - they actually phoned me!!!! All in Italian, but the gist was "You don't have enough KW's? 3.7 is insufficient, you want it raised?" Me: "Yes" Him: "Will 7KW be enough, do you really need 10?"!! Me:" I need 10, I've always had 10 until now that is, it was a mistake you dropped it..." Him:" Ok, you're sure you want 10 though, not 7? Me: Yes, 10!
Him: "Okay, va bene."

5 minutes later....Him: " Are you at home?" Me: "Yes" Him: "Can you open your door then? I'm at the door." So I open the door, he comes in, looks at the metre, looks around the garden. Him: "You sure 7kw won't be enough?!" Give me strength!!!! Anyway, I should now be getting 10, I go away anyway Sunday, the Commercialista who is the estate manager knows they've been around, he even wanted to talk to the chap, but he was in and out, so we shall see....Who wants to take bets I get 7????!!

My friend was here and she asked why I needed 10, other than that's what I'd always had, my answer, unfortunately, a dryer, dishwasher, oven and 7 A/c units...I didn't fit them but if I want to use them, which my OH does in summer, I need those 10KW!

! He wouldn't, he likes the planet too much!! It was pretty funny though! My friend just couldn't understand why he was so bothered, as we'd be paying them more!!

Sometimes they get an idea in their head and they can't seem to get it out despite what you might tell them.... doesn't help that you're 'stupid' either and can't even speak Italian properly ... he was hopefully just checking out your numbers in Italian....

Yeahh, it was the "Are sure 7 won't be sufficient?" that got me, asked several times over the course of two very short conversations! I'm not even sure who he was tbh!! He looked like he'd been sent out by the office to check on these mad people that wanted 10kw!!! I'm surprised he didn't get a camera out..
