Just to let you all know we're back and all the meat safely in fridge. Our last stop in Frascati was memorable. The hotel manageress offered to help me lift the fridge into the lift,I insisted no it's ok it's on wheels, with my Hannibal Lector smile. In the room the only permanent power source was the hotel fridge,so duly swapped it over.In the night I pulled the sheet over me to find it soaking wet,it had fell in the puddle now on the floor from the melted ice from the hotel fridge. We mopped up and restored everything as if nothing had happened except for the wet sheet. They probably think that strange englishman has wet the bed, lol.

Has anyone found an alternative to Horlicks in Italy?

I couldn’t find anything that said “malto”, there’s only “orzo” soluble type drinks in the supermarket but they all seem to be dark brown powder.

Thanks I’ll look out for that, although ovaltine isn’t as nice as horlicks imo. 😊

Yes, I saw that too, although I more excited with the Spanish and Greek weeks. The Manchego cheese was pretty original and the aged feta in brine simply delicious. Love the pastries with feta and leek!

Hi Brian,
I haven't ever found soya mince, not like the Quorn stuff you can get in the UK. I have found bags of soya dried chunks that need rehydrating in flavoured broth or other liquids. It was years ago though and I can't remember where. A few new health shops have sprung up around here called Natursi. I have heard that they have lots of great products. I've also heard that some of them are quite expensive.

Yes you can get dried soya although Quorn mince is the best. We get Quorn products at Interspar here.

No I think Simply is the discount branch of Auchan.

this is the type you can get at Naturasì: https://www.naturasi.it/granulare-di...e-fior-di-loto

this is the Quorn product: https://www.quorn.it/prodotti/carne-...riano-macinata

Like Lorna says NaturaSì is quite expensive but if you have one nearby have a look around because there are alsways 'special offers' on various products, ie. stuff at 'normal' prices! Here's a map with all the shops: https://www.naturasi.it/negozi
