Default calabrian mentality

Hi,we were driving out of the village yesterday and we saw the local plod in his noddy car, guarding a large dead dog by the side of the main road.I thought, good, he's phoning the binmen or someone to romove it.Today we couldnt see it but as we drove on the sliproad below,it was just above us.He'd just kicked it down the embankment to rot away in this heat.Is this behaviour just here or is it everywhere in this country.Rant over, cheers,Brian.

I see dead cats, foxes and birds on the roads that have been flattened. No one has picked them up for a long time.

At least he removed it from the road.

Some people dump their unwanted pets by the side of the road, or even worse, dump them in rivers.

Tragic, you wander who the animals are.

Animal welfare isn't top of the list of priorities here. Our neighbour keeps pigeons for hunting and wires them to their perches when they need a bit of fresh air. We saw them all hanging upside down one day and told him. He just said "mind your own business". We haven't seen that since anyway.

Yes, so many dogs on balconies and no one gives a hoot. So much dogs poo, it is like a minefield.... Maybe it is just here in Rome, I do not know. Do not even start me on rubbish everywhere, it has gone downhill rapidly.

Hi,thats answered my question, its all over.Shame,we have the best beaches in europe, full of northern Italians at the moment and there is dogs crap and flytipping everwhere. My other beef is circuses, there is one up the road with every animal imaginable, even hippos all stuffed in tiny cages.Saw a flat bed trailer being driven at least 50mph with 2 African migrants dressed as zulus hanging onto a life size plastic tiger (yeah tigers-Africa doh).I sort of laughed but thought WTF is all this about, any where else they,d be nicked.

and where does that come from the calabrian tourist board?

my best friend's family is from Calabria she has not set foot in Calabria for over 30 years despite owning land and a house her words are: the only thing to do with calabria is to nuke it she doesn't care if the property she owns rots away as long as she doesn't have to go there so with all due respect I trust her words (given she knows first hand the people's mentality, dialect etc) more than other people

Modicasa my best friend's opinion is not the only one, I grew up with a few kids born in my town but with parents from Calabria and as soon as they became of age stopped going there.

Puglia as far as animals treatment, dumping of rubbish everywhere is just as bad as other regions in the south

This is not the only incident of this kind especially in the Cosenza area

Cane seviziato e ucciso: un anno e 4 mesi a imputati, massimo della pena - Animali - ANSA.it

but then people that do that to an animal do this to people Ragazza violentata in Calabria: lo stupro giustificato a Melito

That's Calabria
