100's of us out here
I'm guilty.
I never knew you existed all the years I have been living here.
Now that I do ...........
my question is this ...........
where all the people that are not regular particpants or Happy Hour lovers or people wanting to move out here or people that live here .. and read all posts but don't comment.. Where all the people that just "pop - up" when a thread might take their interest?
It can't just be the same old 5 or 6 people that actively post these days,
From reading older threads I know there are more British Expats in Italy. Get talking instead of just reading. If you look at Spain etc there is so much more going on ..... and okay - yes - Italy has generally less expats but there are a lot of members out there that don't post anymore. Why not ? Have you you all become infected with the Italian "brutta figura" gene? Are you too busy working for the Northerners on a time sheet?
Surely you could add a comment or two to stop the Italian side from collapsing - please!

And you talk about me being up late?!
Shall I invent several different persona's to make you happy? We could have conversations with my hidden personalities - pyscho mum (not so hidden!), obedient wife (very hidden, ha!), geek girl, arty intellectual, fashion victim (I wish!), hedonist (given a chance) and, well, me!

I know - last night was the latest in a long time. Was keeping a keen eye on something on Ebay - didn't get it though - the price sky rocketed in the last damn 15 minutes. Never mind.
You know what I mean though about the "invisibles" don't you.
So anyway - what does pyscho mum do at home all day when it's peeing it down?

I'm quite guilty of lurking (I think thats the term when you dont post but just read the threads?!) I have posted in a couple of threads but nothing to write home about
I'm not actually a fully fledged Expat yet though, so I'm not sure it counts
I will get my wife to register so we can increase the numbers, maybe we should start a campaign for new members and everyone on here should be tasked with enroling one new person (slight power surge there!!)

I'm a 'pop up' character I suppose. I only found you all by chance and I can't remember how but it was a lovely discovery! I must admit, I try to limit my dipping in and out of the forum because I feel like I should be at the computer to study more italian and not be thinking about the good stuff I miss from england! But I'm not a lurker! If i pop in to read something I always find something I want to put my twopee's worth in! like the sugar sandwiches. ahhhh bisto! reminded me of sandwich toasters and almost made me rush out to try to buy one!

The internet is more addictive than alcohol for me - I have to tear myself away on a regular basis or I can be on the web for hours! Especially at night when my toddly is in bed and I'm all alone! I could quite easily become a cyber stalker.
But Lorna is right! The Spain forum is a lot more chatty, and silly, which is why we've now got Happy Hour - please, please join us. Sometimes I think Lorna and I are all alone on here! I can hear the tumble weed!
I know it's for the serious stuff too, but sometimes you just need to join in and have fun - we won't bite, honest!

I too only found this site recently - it's like a breath of fresh air !! It's nice to know there are people like yourself - in, maybe similar situations, that you can chat to. It's somewhere where you can let off steam - have a laugh - share stories and experiences .....it's great
ps: gotta go for a bit cos (am ashamed to say it ) but Eastenders has just started !! Back in a mo !

Is that the BBC Prime Eastenders, or the more up to date one? We can only get BBC Prime down here and I missed it, as had to go out. Looking at the time you posted, though, I guess it is the UK version.

I too can only get BBC Prime and Eastenders is now on at 5pm Monday to Thursday evenings. If you miss it the episode is repeated at 10.45am the next day and if you miss that too there is a 4 hour omnibus on Saturday mornings.

Sorry Margaret - I forgot to reply the other day
Yes its the UK Eastenders. Our dish points to Astra 28.2 and I get BBC and ITV at the same time as the UK. (just have to remember the hour difference ) I would go completely barmy if I had to watch Italian TV all the time.

Re: 100's of us out here
you said it-
I saw in the media section that a very well known Uk tv programmes is looking for crappy shows to air on their programme and talk about them.
I sent them an email telling to watch La Corrida - which has to be one of the worst - unfunniest shows ever and worse still - it's on for hours on prime time Saturday nights !!!!!!!!!!
I only got Sky two years ago as I couldn't stand the elections all over the tv anymore - but I wouldn't go back now. If my OH wants to watch something on Italian channels I just can't stand listening to it anymore and make him go in the other room and use the little tv.

I used to quite enjoy Distraction and a series from last winter Raccontame (sp?), but I agree with you Italian TV sucks and I refuse to watch most of it!
