Default ITIL Service Transition - In Demand?

Hi,

I'm a Telco/IT professional with over 10 years experience in UK telecoms. I've worked as an Incident Manager and as a BA and now currently working as a Service Transition Analyst for a Application Support Provider.

I've done ITIL Foundation (v3) and I'm looking at either the Practitioner Course in Service Transition or perhaps a keyskills course in Managing Releases and Deployments.

In addition to managing changes and releases I co-ordinate and conduct Operational Acceptance Testing to ensure operational readiness for Projects. I also co-ordinate Datafixes and PTFs for a number of customers.

This is the first company I've ever worked at which has had an ITIL Service Transition Team and I'm keen to understand whether there are jobs in this area outside the UK?

Hi

The short answer is yes, there are jobs in this area. Can't comment on quite how many, though I'd suspect there would be quite a few.

With a number of major outsource providers such as IBM providing a increasing number of services to major IT installations, this kind of function is taking increasing import for both the service provider and user.

There are some major transformation projects underway all across the globe, so the demand exists but so does the supply.

You should position your skills correctly (highlight how you possess niche skills) and apply to some of the IT Consulting firms around.

Good luck, I see your skills being used all the time in my line of work.

Hi all

I'm new to BE, I'm going for my 189 at the moment, I am all ITIL'd v3 up but was wondering if ITIL is widely used in OZ? Ideally Melbourne.

Strange thing is I couldn't find anything relevant on the ACS website.
