Default Some advice please!

Hello there.
I hope someone can give me some help as I don’t even know where to start.
Both my boyfriend and I are UK citizens but currently live in the British Virgin Islands. I have a work permit until end 2006 for here, but he does not. We tried to find a job for him here in IT (he programs VB /SQL) but no hope. So we thought that it might be worthwhile to look into him getting a job in Florida (or New York at a push) so we could see each other that way. However it seems nearly impossible to do this and I don’t even know where to start. There are various websites that charge for sending resume to specific sponsors but not sure how well this would work (has anyone tried?) Anyone ANY ideas? I don’t want to start looking if it is going to be hopeless!
Also, how long does this whole H1 visa thing take?? Thank you so much!
Mary

Don't waste money, time and hopes on any websites that charge for sending resumes or claim to get you job offer as long as you pay them.

H1B....can't apply till April...wouldn't get a visa till Oct if granted...and the employer would petition for it...would need a degree in the field, or 12 years experience...also costs a few grand, so have to offer pretty impressive skill set to make it worth while I'm afraid.

Read all about H1-Bs on the official US government website at:
http://uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm

Also, have you looked at the British Expat forums/newsgroups on US immigration? The US Immigration and US Visas forums are the most appropriate for you...
