Software Development Job in UK for non-EU

Hello,

Does anyone have any info on the finding a software development position in the UK as a non-EU citizen?

I am a recent graduate with a Masters in Computational Science from Switzerland and 4 years solid work experience previous to that.

Any info on the best areas/companies from anyone who has been through the process as a non-EU or as an employer (i.e. how difficult is it for an employer to hire a non-EU?)

Many thanks for any info.

Also: Can I look for a job on a six month tourist visa? (I realise that I probably have to leave again to reapply for a work-related visa?)

I have worked in the UK and been in that situation, in the end it is best not to gamble job offers with a tourust visa, you can do some temp work of course but its best to get your papers in order and apply for a work visa as soon as possible. The current govt is very narrow minded and are very vigilant on these matters. My experience is that it was very positive to get my visa in order since many companies check you background thoroughly and they wouldnt risk hiring someone without a full working permit.

You don't need a permit to work in the UK if you are any of the following:
- a British citizen
- an EEA citizen
- a Swiss national

Any employer with a business requirement who finds you a right fit candidate will hire you as they do not have to go through any immigration loopholes.
