Default Networking in Melbs or Brissie

Hi, still waiting for my 136 but what is the market like for Cisco engineeers / network managers in Melbs?

I know what seek and the Hays salary survey say but does any one have any real workd experience of trying to get a job?

I don't know about Melbourne but I reckon anyone with Cisco skills / quals will be snapped up in Brisbane. My old place seem to be permanently looking for Cisco people. Not sure if the salary would meet your expectations but there's one way to find out

Thanks, thats appreciated, I'm hoping for around $70-$80k which seems about right based on seek.com, jobserve etc, I'll need to do some better research once the visa is sorted.

Like I said, I'm not sure what my old place would pay for your skills but as far as I can tell, there's plenty of work for Cisco peeps all over the country (come to Darwin, I'd have you a job to start on Monday ). Good luck with it.

Hi wmoore,

Are you still travelling round or settled in Top end?
I loved Darwin, worked on a 'prawnie' for 6 weeks, very wild west up there

The trip's off (at least for now) because I got offered a job in Darwin and decided to take it The nightlife in town is pretty interesting - full of backpackers from all over the place. One of the things I like about this place is the variety of people and cultures. Reported in the news today was that in the NT there were 129 people taking citizenship .... from 33 different countries

Yeah I remember a club there called Beachcombers they had a guy in juggling chainsaws & kittens...fluffy toys it turned out. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there, Mindl beach sunsets etc. What kind of visa are you on then ?

We're on a 136 permy. We lived in Brisbane for a bit over a year before going travelling and ending up here. We'll be going for our citizenship this year so hopefully in 365 days time, I'll be posting pics on here from my ceremony. Or more likely it will be in 366 days and 18 hours time after I've sobered up

Mindil Beach market isn't going at the mo. Sadly a lot of stuff doesn't run during the wet season but we're looking forward to seeing all this stuff later in the year,
