Default Working & Living in India

Hi

First timer here so please go easy!

Cutting a very long story short I've been to India
a few times now, some on holiday but in 2011
I spent about 7 months travelling all over.
Basically I am in love with the place, obsessed,
and since I've been home I can't settle. At all.
So I'm starting to think about trying to live there
and work. Just wondering if anyone has any tips
or info regarding how easy/hard it is to work there,
what sort of money I could potentially earn (this
is not a huge factor)
and what the deal is with visa's? I would want as long
a visa as possible.

I am a British citizen, passport holder, work in TV
as a trade but would consider any work.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Before committing to an action that will involve perhaps years of your life spend a few days trawling through this site and IndiaMike - use the search options to look for e.g. visas; working; employment visas; student visas; buying property; scams; ... and any other relevant topics you come across.

You won't be the first to be disappointed; to find that India doesn't care about your enthusiasm, in fact doesn't really want you here.

I assume that the OP did not spend about 7 months travelling in India as visas are only valid for 6 months! Unless of course you are of Indian origin. If you did overstay your visa you may find it hard to get another.

As previously said you can not juts work in India in much the same way as Indians can not just come to the UK and work!!

The only legitimate way is to go with a foreign employer as an Expat or be recruited by an Indian company (pretty unusual) or set up a company ( pretty hard to do)
