Passport renewal- no service at all
Hi, I have applied for my passport renewal at the Embassy in Delhi and it has been not a good experience at all. First of all, there is NO way to actually talk to anyone at the British Embassy, they don't seem to care. If I call the helpline, they cannot hand over messages or forward me to anyone to talk to. I required my renewed passport at a certain date and I know that my wife was allowed to meet with someone at the German embassy to find the best solution. All they said is that I have to send in my passport and then just wait for their call. Now a few weeks have passed and I just saw that the Courier company has delivered my passport to the embassy yesterday, and someone from the embassy actually signed for it.
When I called to inquire if I can pick it up ( since it is now located at the embassy in Delhi) they said they cannot give me any information nor an appointment and I should email them on a certain email address. When I tried that, the email returned saying that no email will be accepted and the Helpline needs to be called. Then I call back the same helpline and they tell me to send an email.
I asked them if I could just come and pick up my passport during working hours and they said no, I have to wait for them to call ME. Although I have proof that the passports are currently IN the embassy and I have business travels which need to be scheduled. That is just really bad service and frankly unbelievable.
Any solutions other than sitting around and waiting if anyone from this embassy thinks it may be important enough to call me and ALLOW me to pick up MY passports which are sitting on their desk?

Hi there and to the forum. That doesn't sound like very good service, does it. Mind you, at least it's within your country of residence. Here in Malaysia we have to send the passport off to the British embassy in Hong Kong for renewals.

Your passport application would have actually been processed in Hong Kong although the passport office there is shortly due to close. When was your new passport delivered to the High Commission and how do you know it was?
