Default Waiting for Partner 100 visa for 8 months

Hi,

I know there will be a thread about the subclass 100 on this forum already but my question is a bit different. My wife was granted subclass 309/100 in Feb 2014 and we applied for perm in Aug 2016. It has been a 8 months already and still no news. The call center at DIBP says it may take upto 22 months.

So my question is if it is taking that long my wife's current provisional visa which is valid for 4 years will end in Feb 2018. Do we need to renew this visa before the PR arrives?

thanks

There's nothing to renew. If she's living in Aus her visa remains valid, it's just if she wants to travel overseas after Feb 2018 that she could encounter problems but as you have the PR in progress it's unlikely. The expiry date is the date by which she should have moved over. As she's here it's irrelevant.

A 309 should remain valid until a decision is made on the 100.
