Default Which Visa

We are on our way to Melbourne on 23rd November on a 457.

My mum and step dad are hoping to join us in a couple of years but cannot come on a Parents Visa as my step dad has 2 kids in the UK.

His brother has lived in Australia for over 30 years - would he be able to sponsor them - my mum will be 58 - 60 and my step dad 63 - 65.

They are nowhere near ready yet so do not want to approach an agent just yet but are looking at the possibilities.

If anyone can offer any advice it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Nikky

There is a wizard on www.immi.gov.au which will tell them which if any visa they might be eligible for.

If your step-father has adult children then he is not going to be eligible for a remaining relative visa (which brothers can sponsor for).

If balance of family test is failed, then a parent visa is out.

Look at http://www.immi.gov.au but it's not easy to see what other options may exist. And while you are on a 457, you cannot sponsor for anything.
