You would need to be settled before you can sponsor. This means have been living in Oz for two years.
Then the visa takes between 18 months and two years to process.
It is expensive - currently about $64,000 per person.

I think I'm right that the sponsor must be PR too? The 309 is the Temp Spouse Visa, so not even PR until they get the 100 two years down the line.

They can take nice long holidays while they wait. My olds did 6 months a year for 15 years until they got too old. Unfortunately it's not a cheap or speedy process and in the longer term it might not be the best option for them, they need to consider the financial, social, medical implications carefully.

Correct, I had forgotten that. So the OP would need to be in Oz 4 years before she can sponsor.

I would also recommend they took advice on a range of things such as pensions and financials. For example, UK government pensions are frozen at the point of leaving, so never increase.

Yep, and prices will almost rise by the time you can apply and wait times are blowing out. From Australia's point, these are not people it particularly wants as migrants. They want young people in the early part of their careers who will contribute economically.

The settled sponsor policy position has changed - for a fuller discussion see Parent Visas - Settled Sponsors | GM Parent Visas

Best regards.
