State Sponsored list updates from 1 July 2014
NSW have changed the way they will be organising state sponsorship. I suspect there will be a lot of competition for places and potentially increased selection criteria although details are still awaited.
Here is the announcement:
NSW is pleased to announce that applications for the 2014/15 Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) program will soon reopen. Details on eligibility requirements and the application process will be published in mid-July 2014.
NSW will introduce a number of new initiatives in 2014/15 which are designed to align the NSW Skilled Nominated visa program with the skills requirements of the NSW economy. Key points about the program in 2014/15 are:
NSW runs the Skilled Nominated program in order to attract highly skilled people in a range of occupations to contribute to NSW future skills needs. As the program is rolled out over 2014/15, NSW will closely monitor the program and will adjust eligibility criteria, including occupational eligibility, as required.
Proposed calendar for NSW Skilled Nominated Program - 2014/15

Re: State Sponsored list updates
Queensland have also updated their lists
Changes to QSOLs effective 1 July 2014
27 June 2014
BSMQ is pleased to announce changes to the QSOLs effective 1 July 2014.
To ensure occupations available for nomination by BSMQ reflect the needs of Queensland industry, BSMQ regularly reviews the occupations, specialist skills and mandatory licencing, registration or memberships on our QSOLs. This helps to ensure migrants have a stronger likelihood of securing employment in Queensland.
From 1 July 2014:
- A range of new occupations will be added to our QSOLs
- A new stream is available under the subclass 489 visa for migrants who are already working in regional Queensland under another visa subclass.
Further information can be found on the relevant skills list page.
Transitional arrangements for occupations that have changed or been removed from a QSOL
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) lodged prior to 1 July 2014 will be accepted based on the requirements of the QSOL that is effective until 11:59pm AEST on 30 June 2014. Applicants are required to lodge their complete application by 31 July 2014.
Outstanding applications
If you have already been contacted by BSMQ to provide further information to submit or finalise your application, you have until 31 July 2014 to lodge your final application with BSMQ.
If you are unable to finalise your application as you are waiting for licensing, registration or membership or other mandatory requirements to be able to work in your occupation in Queensland, please provide evidence that you have lodged your application with the relevant authority for these requirements by 31 July 2014.

Re: State Sponsored list updates
South Australia have just updated their lists and there are changes that may benefit people already working in the state and/or who have family in the state.
Migration updates 2014/15 program year
Immigration South Australia is using data from SkillSelect to identify eligible applicants and inviting them to apply for state nomination. Find out more about the application process here.
The number of available state nomination places (planning levels) are now calculated at the time of submission rather than time of decision, meaning your application will no longer be refused based on planning levels.
South Australian State Occupation List
The new occupation lists for the 2014/15 program year are available on our website. Below are some of the new occupations added to the State Occupation List:
• Advertising Manager
• Regional Education Manager
• Special needs teacher
• Art Administrator or Manager
• Nurse Practitioner
• Finance Broker
• Financial Investment Manager
View the full list here.
IELTS requirements (for most occupations) have been reduced to six in each band score to align with DIBP requirements. All score requirements are published on the State Occupation List.
We're recognising applicants' commitment to South Australia
Applicants who have worked in South Australia for the last 12 months in a skilled occupation* have access to a more extensive occupation list. View point 5 and 6 in the eligibility requirements section.
International graduates of South Australia
We’ve reduced the skilled work experience requirement from 30 hours per week to 20 hours per week.
View point 5, 6 and 8 in the eligibility requirements section.

Re: State Sponsored list updates
You were very correct about the competition for NSW-SS application. Today NSW opened the online application system, within 4 hours all the 1000 places were filled .
I just managed to sneak in and submit the application .

Re: State Sponsored list updates from 1 July 2014
After the awful quota system last year NSW are changing their state sponsorship methd for 2015.
In addition to requiring an occupation on their occupations list NSW will now have a ranking system based on their core criteria: points, English, employment.
NSW have just released their updated list for state sponsorship. There are two new lists one for the 190 and another for the 489.
NSW state "The lists will be amended from time to time according to the skills needs in NSW. In some cases, NSW may need to limit the number of invitations to certain occupations to ensure that places allocated under the program align to the skills needs of NSW."
