Skilled Independent 189 Visa - Work Experience
Hi all, I am looking in to emigrating to Australia from the UK, but not sure on if I will be able to show I have the relevant "work experience".
I have looked at the current SOL list and two occupations that apply are:
I can achieve 50 points by getting 30 for the age range, and then a further 20 for IETLS which would bring me to 50.
I have 11 years experience in the computer networking field for a telecomms company, but I only earned the actual CCNP certification (listed on ACS site as an applicable vendor certification) in Oct 2012. According to the ACS skills assessment form, it only counts "work experience" as time after the qualification was earned, so does this mean I wouldn't meet the limit of at least 3 years work experience?
I can't find anything relevant on the Engineers Australia site as to which qualifications are required for a Telecomms Network Engineer. I also have NVQ IT Practitioners (Level 2) and BTEC HNC Telecommuncations (Level 3), but not sure if these are considered relevant tertiary qualifications.
If this CCNP certification is the only one that applies, I guess I am pretty stuck unless I somehow get sponsored?
Thanks
Sean

Getting rather technical for a free forum. You might be better of seeking some professional assistance.
With 6% unemployment in Australia, sponsorship is not a realistic option for most people, unless you have an employer you can transfer with or something. Of course there is no harm in trying, but I would recommend you really run the skilled migrant options to ground first.
Often with ACS, it will only be the post qualification experience that counts, so if you did not get the qualification until 2012 then it could well be that you won't get the work experience points, assuming that the qualification is a necessity anyway ... is it? One thing you could do is just apply for the skills assessment and work experience evaluation and see what happens?
The two occupations by the way, don't sound that similar to me. Isn't one about computers and the other about telephone lines?

If your duties match the occupation code for computer network and system engineer, then you would need to submit all qualifications, and work experience and be assessed on the possibly Diploma route (HNC is diploma equivalent I think) which would mean that you would need 5 or 6 years to be recognised as skilled - http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/...teria-2014.pdf
If you were successful, it could add 10 points for diploma qual, and 10 points for experience - but only if the work you do matches the occupation (ACS say 65% match)
Have you looked at the duties of both occupations?

Hi guys, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get too technical - my head is just filled with stuff at the minute. Thank you both for the wonderful answers
I guess my main problem is my job is kind of a mix of both! My main job role would be that of a Computer network administrator / engineer, but I specialise in (Cisco) Voice which is what the CCNP certification is in. This relates to running IP phones across computer networks etc, so the two are very closely linked.
My HNC is in Telecommunications, but this included modules on "Data communications and networks", "Introduction to software development", "Computer Aided design" etc, but there are other telecomms specific modules, so I'm not sure how they judge the % criteria.
The HNC was issued in October 2005 (Over 8 years ago) with Double Merit. I was also doing the NVQ level 2 in ICT alongside, but think it may be too low a level to be taken into account.

I wonder if you have taken account of this
If your work experience is completed before the completion date of your qualification, the Skill Level Requirement Met Date will be determined on the earliest date that BOTH the relevant work experience and the qualification are completed.
