Default Single Parent - Child Visa Question

Hi

I am UK based, have Australian PR and have recently accepted a job that allows me to return to Australia. I have two children who don't have visas but are allowed to relocate to Oz.

My plan was to apply for their PR visas but I don't know whether to do the child visa offshore (UK) or onshore (AUS).

The time to process their applications is my biggest worry as I plan to return to Australia in December. My job starts in January.

What are my options? Do the children travel on holiday visas, then get bridging visas? Or do I apply here in the UK and then inform immigration we have moved to Australia; in this scenario do they still go out on a holiday visa?

Child Visa is the way to go. I would apply offshore in the UK. For me the Child Visa in India was granted within 2 months and I have see few people in the UK having the same timeline.

Be aware you will need either the other parents permission in writing or a court order to allow them to gain visas.

There is no wait time for child visas processed through London at the moment. You'll likely receive them within four to six weeks providing you are prompt in providing the relevant documents/checks.

As others have noted before me, there are some options for you to consider.

Ultimately, what is equally relevant is whether you have the legal right to permanently remove your children from the UK and what passport(s) your children hold right now.

Might be worthwhile to consult a registered migration agent to go through all your options, depending on your exact personal circumstances.

Regards
Peter

Hi Stacey.

Where were your children born?

Best regards.
