Registering birth abroad?
The UK has a good system of registering a child born abroad, where the info is then in the system in the UK. I can only assume that this makes it easier to get future birth documents on the spot in the UK, which could be useful if someone was born in some remote place like Bora Bora and lost their original BC...
Does Australia have a similar system? I did a search but nothing came up, so I'm wondering if there is no such thing or whether just they refer to it differently.

Re: Registering birth abroad?
Unlike the UK, and most other countries, Australia requires any person born overseas who wants to claim Australian citizenship by descent to register as an Australian citizen. They do not become an Australian citizen until such registration is approved. You need to apply to the relevant Australian diplomatic mission overseas. For Singapore for instance: Visas and migration - Australian High Commission
