Hello, I was granted Visa 190 in Sep 2017 and it is valid till Sep 2022. I will make a move to OZ in December 2017 and live there till May 2020. After that, I need to leave OZ and will not return until January 2024.

As I will meet minimum 2 out of 5 years' requirement, will I be able get another 5-year RRV renewal? If yes, when should I renew my 5-year RRV? Should it be in May 2020 before I leave or in Sep 2022 before it expires?

Yes, you should be eligible for a RRV based on those dates. You can apply on either of those dates but the latter would be more economical.

Is it OK to do renewal in Sep 2022 whilst being away from Australia? If renewed in Sep 2022, will the 5-year RRV given be counted from Sep 2022 or May 2020? What documents do I need to produce as a proof for my stay between Dec 2017 and May 2020?

Yes, doing it offshore is fine.

Although of course the criteria might change in the future. I know I'll be applying for a five year RRV just as soon as I've been here two years in January even though my current visa lasts longer than that, just in case. You'll qualify too once you've been here two years (plus absences) and that would get you a RRV valid until after you plan to return so I'd get one then if I were you and then another a bit short of three years after you leave (so that the two of the five previous years presence are your last two years in Oz).
