Hello All,

My wife and I are Australia permanent residents and are planning to move to Adelaide in a month. We have a new born for whom we need to apply for the child visa. The question I have is whether the child needs to go through the health check before lodging of the application?

The second question I have is that we are planning to take the child on tourist visa as the Child visa offshore might take around 14 months to be granted. The tourist visa application asks for address in Australia. We are not in Australia yet, so what address should be provide in the application? Can it be a hotel or something? Please let me know as it will be really helpful.

You can lodge the visa now, as the medical check will be requested by the case officer during the process. It's probably something you want to get sorted sooner rather than later though.

Regarding an Australian address for the tourist visa, as you are not in Australia as yet and, theoretically, you may not know where you will be residing, this doesn't apply.

If you're lodging through London a Subclass 101 Child visa will able to be granted as soon as the application is complete so I would recommend completing your child's health assessment as soon as you lodge their application.

The Child visa was approved in just over a month in India and we landed in Adelaide on the 19th of January. Thanks everyone for your replies and help.
