Default Maternity impact on visa application

Quick question really -

Will the maternity leave period will be counted towards my work experience ? In my current job (started on May,2011), I am on maternity since last June and scheduled to get back to work in May end. Could someone please confirm so that I can submit my EOI as ACS and IELTS sorted already ?

I tried looking on various form but getting contradicting answers, even my agent is not 100% sure. I wrote email to DIAC as well but no reply yet.

I didn't mentioned about Maternity in ACS application 9 never thought about it actually until one friend flagged it up). Would I need another ACS evaluation letter ?

visa : class 189

regards,
Sandy

Hi Sandy - when was your ACS letter issued? If before the rules changed, are you aware of the new criteria?

Most people don't worry about annual leave or sick leave when calculating work experience so I guess it's similar - but if you have enough points without claiming while on maternity leave I guess it's safer. What does your agent advise?

Excluding maternity leave period, I hit 60 points which attracts long wait unfortunately which I am not keen on.

Agent didn't give definite answer but by sound of her voice, she was not sure.

Your agent really needs to find out for you, that's why you are paying them!

Agent came back to me and said it should be fine as long as maternity leave is paid.. I hold this sentence as true and planning to submit EOI accordingly.
