G'day you lot, I'm posting a concern I have. It may be trivial, but still it's been
worrying me to no end. I'm wondering how long did any of you who received approval in
obtaining a PR Visa? I submitted application for it during the first week of January and
now it's nearly March and I haven't heard one peep out of DIMA about the status of my
application. Do you think it'd be a good idea to give them a ring or fax them in regards
of the application and how long does it normally take to process and grant/reject it?
Thanks for bearing with me! =) Take care and warm regards,

Hi,
That depend on the Application scheme u submitted. We submitted ours and it took 6 month
before actually heard any news about
it.(That is normal I heard...ie at least once in six month for SKILLED MIGRATION))
But lately..... around 18 months, the correspondence getting more and more regular
(initiated by DIMA)

Dawn,
We submitted my wife's 2nd stage paperwork in late January. Within a week DIMA
returned the photos we had included, and I assume they are happy so far, since we have
not been asked for any further information. So we're just sitting patiently waiting
for further news.
Considering that our temporary residence visa took about 10 weeks to approve, I wouldn't
worry too much if the permanent residence stage takes the same amount of time to process.
Hang in there! Mark

Hi Dawn,
Hang on in there please.
DIMA's different offices have somewhat differing timeframes for processing such
applications. And January is always a busy month with many of the staff on their Christmas
and/or New Year and/or summer school holidays.
Just give them another 3 to 4 weeks before contacting them.

Ta very much Jason for your assurances on this. I'll try to worry less, smile. I just want
no hassles with DIMA at all. I feel it's just a bit of a pain in the arse having to deal
with this and worrying over it.
Thanks so very much!

Thanks Mark, I guess DIMA's happy with what I provided as I have heard *nothing* at all
since submitting the application. My temporary 2 year visa was granted close to 2 weeks
after submitting the application. Guess I'll have to wait out til I hear back from
DIMA. *sigh*
Thanks again,
