Default MODL List Next updated?

Hi,
Does anyone know if the MODL list is likely to be updated soon.
My occupation is currently on this list and in the past has been removed from the list and then re-added at a later date.
I need to get my skills assessed and I suppose it is possible that by the time I have them assessed my occupation might be off the list again and it is 6 months now since it was last revised.

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...-in-demand.htm

Thanks
Dave

Hi there,

The last update was in May.

And one of the OZ states amended their list recently, if I find the details I will post it for you.

Hi Chipster et al,

The MODL is routinely updated every six months and we have heard some disturbing rumours about a reduction in IT occupations in the next manifestation. Can't quantify this but strongly suggest people with MODL
ACS assessments get outstanding applications lodged as soon as possible.

cheers,

George Lombard

Hi George

Are you saying the ACS assessment must be lodged or the Visa application? Unfortunately, I sense you're going to says it's the latter.

I'm about to lodge my ACS form for MODL and don't expect a result until end of Jan 2009. If MODL changes between now and then and mine is taken off the list, then I potentially say goodbye to the dream and 9 months solid effort down the pan.

In order to lock in your MODL points, your nominated occupation/specialisation must be on the MODL at the time your visa application is lodged.

So, even if the ACS okays your MODL specialisation but the MODL changes in between the ACS result and when you lodge your visa application, you won't get the 15 MODL points

George is absolutely right in urging those who're holding on to positive MODL assessments from the ACS to get their visa applications into the DIAC system without delay.

Peter

Thanks George.
Just my luck, I finally decide to apply and then it looks like they might take SAP skills off the list.
I definately won't qualify then.
I haven't even got as far as gathering the relevant documentation for the ACS submission.

Hi,

The legislation used to award MODL points at the time a case officer first made an assessment of your application, ie an additional 3-12 months nervous waiting, however after some court cases and an amendment to the legislation you now get the MODL if it applied either at time of application or time of assessment, whichever is more favourable. So at least people have some control over the process now. Still can't make ACS any quicker, although that may be changing soon too.

Cheers,

George Lombard

They did the same after the tech reck of 2001, many IT specialties came off of the MODL list in a hurry! A lot went back on a year or so later though.

According to some analysts, this economic crisis is worse and it's just beginning. So, if that prediction is true, we would need to wait longer

We would need to have a B plan if they take off our professions from the MODL, my B plan is presenting again the IELST and obtaining 7.0 The sad thing is that they can change other things in the immigration policy which would lower my total points I just hope they aren't go to do that tomorrow in the next legislation changes

I guess it is South Australia which doesn't have "computer professionals" in its list for permanent visas, am I right ?
