Default Migration 489 visa - possibility of PR

Hi there,

I hope you're all well. I have a query which I was hoping someone could kindly help with.

I am planning to apply for a 489 visa to move to Oz. I understand this is a pathway to a permanent residency.

Now my questions is - if I make the move get accepted etc. What happens if I can't find a job in the occupation I specified in my application (manager).

If I end up doing a job such as retail, or a job unrelated to the occupation that I applied for the 489 visa or even a lower position would i still be eligible for PR?

I believe the criteria for PR is stay in your region for 2 year and work full time for 1 year. But there doesn't seem to be any stipulation about what job I would need to do in order to obtain a PR.

What is the likelihood of me being able to stay in Oz after 4 years if I work in an unrelated field or low paid position the one I applied with for my 489 visa ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the information. I do have a few other questions I was wondering if you could kindly help with?

So one of the requirements is to get an assessment. Are you able to tell me what the assessment team does ? For example I understand they will contact my old companies but but do you know what will be asked of them? Reason I ask is the old companies have changed enormously and loads of people have left and new faced brought in so these jobs which were years ago may not even remember me and I'd have to get in touch with HR.

What's your occupation? Depends on what skill you are applying for as to what the skills assessment entails.
