I currently have MCP, MCP+I, MSCE in the IT world I'm from the UK (worked in IT for 6
years but no diplomas etc) although I have read that this would not guarantee me entry to
either country, do you think it helps that I am also single and under 30 (do they favour
single status ??)

You may be eligible to migrate to Australia, if you can get the Australian Computer
Society to accept you as an IT professional. They look at both your education and
experience in IT. http://www.acs.org.au
Australia's migration skilled points test does give you more points if you are under 30 if
you apply. There's not much difference in points terms if you are single or married,
except that a married person can get 5 extra points if the spouse fulfils the basic
requirements for migration as well in his/her own right.
you can get details of the points test and other information at http://www.immi.gov.au
The comments about points apply more or less to NZ as well, although their points system
is somewhat different. The NZIS website is at: http://www.immigration.govt.nz
I don't know how many qualification points you would have a chance of getting in the
NZ system.

If you haven't had a working holiday visa before, you should consider that option. It is
becoming very easy to convert to a temporary working visa after arrival. The advantage is
that you can plan your move much more quickly.
