Meds and IVF
Hello. I am new to this blessed forum and would really appreciate any input.
When I was a child, I had some minor hormonal issues. I've never needed any medicine for my condition, so I am unlikely to become a burden to the state. As a matter of fact, I am not sure I have any condition to begin with, but it's part of my medical history and I will obviously have to disclose it.
The problem is that IF I ever decide to have children, I WILL need IVF or some other fertility treatment. And it costs an arm and a leg...
So I am wondering if it will affect my chances of getting into OZ?

Not heard of a refusal because you wil need fertility treatment - after all, its not an essential part of life or death, and if you needed/wanted it you would almost certainly have to pay for it.
Specialist advice would eb a good idea though.

George Lombard and Peter Bollard both come highly recommended for medical advice.

Hi, I see this was posted ages ago but thought I would let you have my comments anyway! When we first looked at emigrating we were trying for our second child. I had my medical done early as I was worried that it would be requested and I would be unable to have the x-rays as I thought I'd be pregnant by that time. Anyway, the medical was done and was sent on to Australia.
Shortly after this we discovered we had secondary infertility and would need IVF (this was after an exploratory op). Anyway, in the end I had to redo the medical as due to dates it wouldn't have left us long to activate our visa if I didn't re-do it. When I re did the medical I had to put on about the operation and the infertility. We still got our Visas granted.
We're still in the UK, we have until 2012 to actually emigrate. We're having one more shot at IVF here this month and if it doesn't work we hope to emigrate by the Summer - if it works, we'll emigrate next Xmas.
Good luck with your visa and if you need fertility treatment in the future, with that too.
