It wasn't casual chatting, it was my response to his repeating a question to me and my telling him to be patient, my answer to his query was not 'off topic' I think you'll find...

I am a May App :

175 (Co - applying with spouse)
Nominated occupation : Engineer (CSL)
Occupation on SOL : Prog.Analyst
Exp : 5 years
Country HR
Paper App

I have a question : Does a positive assessment by the certification authority (in my case Engineers Australia) the only criterion to be considered on CSL ?
i.e I have been positively assessed by EA for my engg qualification based on my academic research projs not based on my work ex. Hence I could claim only 5 points for my occupation on SOL. But as I scored 25 on IELTS , I could complete 120. so I am a bit worried whether my app will be considered on CSL..Even my agent hasnt been able to provide me clear insights.Any pointers or inputs on this issue are really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You must have 12 months paid work experience during last 24 months in the occupation you assessed & applied. If you don't, you are not eligible for appying as a primary applicant.

I clarified the point that you raised with the agent ..The agent had handled such a case before ...The occupation has to be any occupation on SOL not the one that you nominated and for 5 points following are the conditions.

If your nominated occupation is:

worth 40, 50 or 60 points
and
you have been employed in any occupation listed on the SOL, for at least three (3) of the four (4) years immediately before the day of your application

To meet the recent work experience requirement, you must demonstrate that you have been employed:

in an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
for at least 20 hours a week
in a paid position
for at least 12 of the 24 months immediately before lodging your visa application.

I hope this doesnt cause any problem. The only thing I am worried about is how is the CSL status determined...Any pointers are welcome ..Thanks again for your clarification.

Your time will be considered the moment you will hit the SUBMIT button after entering the payment details (i.e. credit card). You will also receive an auto acknowledgement email (within few minutes or within one hour). This email is the proof that your application has been submitted. I think u already know that u're given 28 days to send all the documents (thru upload or email attachments).
