Lodging Long Stay Temporary Business Visa Paperwork

Please can someone give me any advice on the following:
We left Australia last August and my boyfriend has now been offered a new job back there.
He is going to be sponsored by an Australian company and so everything is straight forward
there and we are waiting for the paperwork from Oz. Obviously we will have to lodge our
1066 form with all the relevant paperwork attached but the problem is we are living in
Germany for the next month. What is the best way to lodge it ? We don't want to have to
lodge our passports in London as how are we going to get back and forwards between German
and England ? Can we lodge it with the Australian embassy here in Germany even though we
are British citizens ? Or can I go over to London and lodge the paperwork and the two
passports, stay in England while it is processed and then pick it up for both of us ? I am
on the 1066 form as De Facto.
