Just been canned and PR visa has expired. Options?
Hi All,
You could write a book about this! 3 days after turning a job offer down in Sydney a month before my PR visa expired (could not afford the move) my boss calls me into an office and tells me I am at risk of redundancy. I had been hoping for the call whilst we still had the PR visa so we could have used the money to get settled in Aus, but as usual timing is never how you want it.
So, here I am with a decent redundancy pay off but no PR visa. What is the likelyhood of getting a 3 month RRV without a job offer in place and not having met the other criteria?
Just wondered whether a 3 month RRV could be granted as a one off as we have not applied for one before and our PR visa has only recently expired?
Thanks

You probably have a good chance and they are normally fairly lenient with RRV applications.

What I do know is that you don't know anything. The OP has a PR visa. If he applies for ETA that will supersede his PR visa and he will be left here as a tourist and nothing more. He can't legally work or live here on a ETA and your advice for the OP to do so is nothing short of rubbish.

The OP currently has a PR visa. Getting an ETA may well cause the cancellation of that visa, leaving the Op holding no more rights than any other tourist.
Thus its pretty pointless getting a job offer as he cannot work on an ETA.

Hi juckky.
At the risk of this being too much of a self promotion you are welcome to call our office in Southampton and to have a freebie discussion about your RRV options with my colleague Ian Harrop - he has a wealth of experience and looks after our RRV client applications.
This is very much a case where the quality of the supporting submission will be key to a successful outcome.
Best regards.
