Question Immigrate to Autralia

Hi Guys,

I am a British Citizen and live in the UK with my family, including my two children. I am thinking of immigrating to Australia soon with my family permanently. I would be very much grateful, if you could kindly some advice where should I start..
Shall I apply for a job in Australia and ask the potential employer to provide 457 Visa [if they offer a job] or how do I go about it? Even if I go on my own, how do I take my family and I think I can't enroll my children in school there and get medical care unless I get PR..

Thanks in advance guys!!
Have a great day!

Best Regards,
D

Best,
Okay, so good news, your occupation (ICT Security Specialist, ANZSCO code 262112) is on the list for the subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa. This means that you and your family can migrate to Australia and gain permanent residence independently.

Have a read through and come back if you have any questions.

As a first step you will need to undergo a "skills assessment" for a 189 visa. This means that you will have to submit a battery of documents such as your training, experience etc to a skills assessor to ensure that you meet the requirements of ICT Security Specialist to an Australian standard.

This skills assessment step MUST be done before you make an Expression of Interest, as you are required to provide the result (a positive assessment) when you send in your Expression of Interest.

It looks like ACS is the assessor for your occupation. Start there.

Note that if the assessment is negative - you cannot apply for permanent residence under that occupation.

When you apply for the visa you list yiur children and partner as yiur dependents, and they get the same visa as you.
On a 189 they qualify for the same public education as Aussies, and full medicare.

Really appreciated! So I need to undergo a "skills assessment" for a 189 visa with ACS first...Then what's next? Is that submitting my EOI?

If the skills assessment is positive then I apply for 189?
When can I start applying for a jobs in Australia?

Thanks.

Skills assessment first, then submit your EOI claiming the points you are entitled to. You then have to wait to be invited to apply for a subclass 189 visa.

As BritInParis noted, you do the skills assessment first, and then if that comes back positive, you do the EoI.

If your EoI has enough points, you are drawn from the pool and invited to apply for the visa.

You can apply for jobs at any time, but there will be restrictions on employers in many professions on hiring non-citizens and non-PRs, and even when you have PR, I think you will find that Australian employers need to be able to put a face with a CV.

Very much thanks to @carcajou and @BritInParis! Just another question - I saw Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) Under 457 as well..but not quite sure in detail...
www [dot] hwimmigrationlawyers [dot] com/australia-visa/457-to-permanent-residency/#c992

Please bear my URL..not allowing me to post urls until I have 5 posts or something..so you will need to replace [dot] with .

What do you guys suggest/advise on this route, etc?

Best to stick to the official site: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visa-1/457-

A subclass 457 is only a temporary visa, it ties you to a single employer and it's being in the process of being abolished. The subclass 189 is the way to go.

I concur with BritinParis. Even if the 457 was sticking around that is a temporary visa and you have to leave the country after a prescribed period.

it seems that for your occupation, you would need to have around 75 points these days to be invited to apply for a189vusa subclass otherwise you'll be waiting a long time.
