Is it just the format of the test people are being surprised with or is the test itself very hard? It's odd that a test designed to test how good you are at being a native speaker is not identifying native speakers very well!
I got 7.5 in my first IELTS in the listening section, but all 9's second time. First time I came straight from a night shift, but I got 8.5 in reading and 9's in speaking and writing. Second time, I took the night off and got all 9's. I think it depends on how well you use English day to day to some extent

The test is not difficult at all. I am still amazed that I only got a 7 in the reading. I have done more tested in reading at home since and get ALL the questions right ............. so don't get it. But I would say do some prep on the format of the test. I did about 15 mins a few days before the test. I was going to go for a remark but it was faster to just re-sit the test lol. I hope I get all 8's this time.

Good luck with your test..........let us know who you can on.

Any information would be a great help.

Hi Shaun,

I have applied for EOR in writing.Surprisingly i got the result within two weeks from the date i submitted for remark that too with 0.5 increase.I would suggest that anyone can go for remark in w/s since it may vary acc to evaluators thinking.
