Question IELTS (english test)

Can somebody help me? a friend of mine did his test a few weeks ago and received his results today. He is at the moment in Wales on holiday in a caravan and has no access to a computer to check if he has passed as he does'nt understand them.
He got 8 overall but does he need 8 for everything?
The results by text to my phone are:
2x7's
1x8.5
1x9
is this enough for a pass?
thanks
Paul
